There came a time in my life when I had no outlet, no one to turn to but my bible and the Word of God. In this desperation and isolation, God’s Spirit began revealing the corruptness of my own heart, which was necessary for me to start transforming the old me into a man after God’s heart. This has been a continual pursuit as God reveals deeper layers of my personality that need fixing, but it has been a great adventure as it draws me closer to God.
Through this humbling pursuit, I’ve been shown how my actions are a direct reflection of my heart, and how for me to change my actions, it’s really my heart that needs to change. And to change my heart, I need to filter what is going into my heart. And to filter what is going into my heart, I need to filter the images that I see and the words that I hear. This has been a challenge since the world we live in has bought into the lies of Satan.
What we’re told through the media and our peers what is acceptable, but these values are at times clear violations of what the Lord has declared for us as Christians. And by conforming to the values of this world we are exacerbating the sin in our hearts, leading us further away from God and from peace and true happiness.
This is my pursuit and prayer, that God would create in me a clean heart. With the support of family, friends, and pastors, I hope these verses will draw you closer to God and give you a renewed sense of passion for reading the Word of God, as it has for me.
